These are personal choices, so please don’t go berserk on them. Please. Keep your swearing and violent fists to your siblings and teachers.
Please note that all these themes are with vocals. Otherwise, it would be filled with Touhou and FF.
This also does not include any Doujin songs. Otherwise, it would be filled with J and IOSYS.
And these are themes from only anime and manga. Movies don’t count.
And I haven’t watched or played many animes or games yet, so it may be little limited.
50. What’s Up People?
by MAXIMUM THE HORMONE
from Death Note
The song of your heart. It is a song that warms your mind with emotions and happiness. The lyrics are delightfully happy and the slowly paced melody calms your mind. … And take what I have just said and reverse it completely and you get MTH’s “What’s Up People?”. This death metal song, although not calm nor sooths in anyway, rather make you go berserk with headbanging and drill a hole through ur neighbours wall, is a great song nonetheless. And it has a lot of F-words. Yes. My kind, I’d say.

49. Leaf Ticket
by KOTOKO
from Parfait ~Chocolat Second Brew~
From one of the best eroges ever made, in my opinion that is, KOTOKO’s Leaf Ticket is a soothing song and is great to listen to. The lyrics are not bad either, and melody is very pleasant.

by KOTOKO
from Kono Aozora ni Yakusoku wo (Promise to this Blue Sky) Game
You will hear this, and will think about a beautiful beach under a sunny day. That’s half true because the eroge takes place on an island. Just like other KOTOKO songs, this song is just full of spirit and its upbeat and light nature is a great appeal.
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mJiRNtOyVY
46. Disillusion
by Tainaka Sachi

by ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION
from Naruto
One of the first Asikang songs that got famous. I used to listen to this song over and over, but now i just listened to it too much. The base part on the opening is kickass (which is deleted in TV version)

41. F.D.D
by Itou Kanako
from CHAOS;HEAD
The vocal is great, and the punk feel it has is pretty awesome. And Itou Kanako’s voice has some kind of charm that attracts me.
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBkCvrl5WGo
40. The Brilliant World
by Oda Kaori
from Luminous Arc
The infamous opening song that made numerous people buy the game, only to go “WTF”. But song’s that good. The opening for second game, “Unlimited World” by KΛNΛ is pretty awesome too.
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksGAa7iI1So
39. バニラソルト (Vanilla Salt)

37. ガ-ネット (Garnet)
by Oku Hanako
from Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time)
Oku Hanako’s songs are just so calm and beautiful. And that’s a good thing. I was crying when this song was on during the ending credits. A beautiful movie, a beautiful song. “Tegami” by the same artist is great too.

34. Face of Fact
by KOTOKO
from Balder Force EXE
Although I haven’t played the game yet (waiting for the patch), nor watched the anime, this song is pretty awesome. It feels little like Oblivion, sensitive, Re-Sublimity, and other songs by KOTOKO. It was once rated as second best Eroge song, after Tori no Uta. I love GIGA anyway.

by Mizuki Nana
from Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha)
Mizuki Nana’s powerful voice just kicks living ass out of anyone. Although not her best, this song certainly deserves a recognition. If you liked this song, be sure to check SUPER GENERATION, since it’s one of her best.

Let’s dance.

30. Remember Memories
by YURIA
from Really? Really!
The song, in my opinion, is better than SHUFFLE’s OP, for some weird reason I am not sure of. The game? I don’t know, they are both not that good. What’s up with the arrows anyway lol? It’s like Luminous Arc Eroge version: Good Opening, Bad Game.
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLWV9P2NYYA
29. コッペリアの柩 (Coppelia no Hitsuki “Coppelia’s Coffin”)
by ALI PROJECT
from Noir
ALI PROJECT!! The best J-POP duo ever, I think, with their unique style not found in almost anywhere else. One of my favourite J-POP band, maybe even my favourite music band. Lyric’s are strong, melodies are great, and vocals awesome too. Haven’t watched the anime though.

23. Why, of Why Not
by Katagiri Rekka
from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When Cicadas Cry) Anime
The best Higurashi song. I personally didn’t like Naraku no Hana. Rekka-san’s English pronunciation is, well, not better than other Japanese singers, but the song itself is just so good.
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nInpWREznSM&feature=related

20. We Survive
by KOTOKO
from V.G. NEO
It’s like other typical KOTOKO song, but it’s still great. And KOTOKO songs are usually great anyways. If you liked this one, I recommend Fatally by KOTOKO too, it’s a great song.

by KOTOKO
from Kannazuki no Miko (Priestess of Godless Month)
Just like other KOTOKO songs, it’s a great one. Dang, I gotta watch the anime though, heard it was Yuri. The opening for the same anime, Re-Submility, is a great song too.
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUKsJPmCJcg&feature=related
16. In The Sky
by Hashimoto Miyuki
from SHUFFLE! (Game)
Just like I said, SHUFFLE has great songs, and no story. Hashimoto Miyuki’s voice is awesome too.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeEGLumT_Gc
13. 罠 (Wana “Trap”)
by THE BACK HORN
from Mobile Suit Gundam 00
THE BACK HORN, one of my favourite J-ROCK metal group, made an awesome song. Great vocal and great riff. The crazy opening intro part is great too. 00 seems to have great song AND story. Great for us viewers.
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sSR24fwZfA
12. I SAY YES
by ICHIKO
from Zero no Tsukaima ~Futatsuki no Kishi~ (Familliar of Zero ~The Knight of Two Moons~)
ICHIKO is similar to those of Mizuki Nana and KOTOKO, but this song is good on its own right. Very powerful song, and I loved the anime too. Too bad the third season went retarded. The wedding version, AKA piano version, is great too.
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCAJm5cdFJM
11. God Knows…
by Hirano Aya
from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi)
The solos are great. One of the only Japanese song that I found the solo great. And the vocals are not bad either, as long as it’s not live. The live is just… just… ugh. I gotta admit, Aya is great seiyuu, but have to improve if she wants to be a great singer. Lost My Music is great song too.
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrFhGkIehCg
10. 翼は Pleasure Line (Tsubasa wa Pleasure Line “Wing is Pleasure Line”)
by Kuribayashi Megumi
from Chrno Crusade
I don’t know how, but one day, I fell in love with this song. It’s still a mystery, but this song is great. Similar to some of Hashimoto Miyuki songs I believe. Anime, I’m not sure, because I haven’t finished it yet, but manga is, let’s just put it this way, the only manga that made me cry.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6ljFaKRTrI&feature=related
8. Style
by YURIA
from Sore wa, Maichiru Sakura no Youni (Cherry Petals fall like tear drops)
A great song for a great game. I love the heavy guitar riffs. Well, this is actually not IN the game, and is more of a remake/remix version of the original, titled Beloved ~Sakura no Kanata~. The opening of the game, Days, is an awesome song too. Lastly, all hail Yukimura.
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlD4am8IQTM
7. Snow Angel
by KOTOKO
from Onegai Teacher! OVA (Please Teacher! OVA)
Best KOTOKO song ever. It’s just pleasant to listen to, and at the same time, it retains her powerful voice.

6. この淚があるから次の一步となる (Kono Namida ga Aru Kara Tsugi no Ippo to Aru “Because of This Tear, There Is the Next Step”)
by Tokito Ami
from School Rumble Niggaki
One of my favourite animes of all time’s ending song. It maybe short, but the lyrics are good and the vocals are great too. It brings me the memories of watching that anime. I remember getting so emotional.
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eDiLRWLnbo

5. ETERNAL BLAZE
by Mizuki Nana
from Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha A’s (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A’s)
Best. Mizuki. Nana. Song. Ever. Period. If you liked the song, I recommend her new single, Trickster. One of the best songs around. The place of happiness or TRANSMIGRATION is a great song too.
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C19C1ns_kcM&feature=related

4. Ash Like Snow
by the brilliant green
from Mobile Suit Gundam 00
This song was the first Brigreen song I was introduced to. Great punk rock, with the vocal at her best. Hope new single’s coming out soon, haven’t heard about brigreen for a while.
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOpsNTIlK9Q

3. 聖少女領域 (Seishoujo Ryouiki “The Domain of Holy Girl”)
by ALI PROJECT
from Rozen Maiden Traumend
The flower of Kuro-Ari song. It’s off-beat parts are just dead-on, the lyrics are great as always, and the whole atmosphere is just right on the spot. An absolute classic. If you liked this, be sure to check Waga Routashi Aku no Hana (Code Geass R2 ED), Geshokku Grand Guignol, Bouku Kakusei Catharsis, Jinsei Bimi Raisan (Warning: VERY disturbing lyrics), Peking Lovers (Warning: equally disturbing) and Aka to Kuro.

2. リライト (Rewrite)
by ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION
from Hagane no Renkinjutsushi (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Amazing piece of music. It’s Asikang at their best, with great guitar riffs, excellent lyrics, and awesome vocals. One of the best J-Rock music ever in my opinion. If you liked this song, World Apart and Mirai no Kagera is a must-listen.
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_oDSG05VGc&feature=related

1. 薔薇獄乙女 (Baragoku Otome “Rose Hell Girl”)
by ALI PROJECT
from Rozen Maiden Ouverture
As a huge fan of ALI PROJECT, this song, effectively making a Shiro-Ari song into somewhat fast paced song, in my opinion, is one of the best song they have ever produced. The lyrics, as usual, are beautifully poetic and metaphoric, with its meaning delightfully disturbing (not as some other songs though). The violin parts are amazing as always, and the high pitch vocals are impressive. I was disappointed that most of the anime themes ALI PROJECT work on are Kuro-Ari, till I found this song. A truly maginificent song. If you liked this, chances are you will like S-jou no Himeyaka na Kaikon, Narcisse Noir (amazing), Soubikakei (equally amazing), and Chinkonshou.
